The law mandates the credit reporting agencies to provide every one a free copy of their credit report each year.  Several websites claim to offer a free report, but be careful.  Most of those sites require that you sign up for monthly monitoring services and they charge a fee.  It's only free if you cancel within the first 30 days.  The only place I know of where you can get an actually free report is www.annualcreditreport.com  This site is provided by the 3 credit agencies to fulfill their lawful obligation.
