there are many settlements companies out there that will scam you.  just do your due diligence and be sure you check at least 3 companies.   i would probably look into Freedom Debt Relief, RAM Financial Services, then Rise Above Debt.  Good luck.

I don't know about Freedom...I've heard a lot of bad things about them.  I looked up RAM, and they seemed reasonable, as did Rise Above Debt.  Couldn't find much bad about the latter 2 companies.  Make sure you look through USOBA before going with any company, though. Also, the IAPDA (sp?). The have reputable companies that have been trained and certified.  Good luck and let us know how things turn out!

I am currently in a program with Ram financial services and am very satisfied with the service that I have recieved. I also looked at a few other companies. I almost went with Rise Above. But the person I had been dealing with at Ram seemed to be more knowledgable about their services.
I hope this helps you make a decision

I saw the Ram on yellowpages.com and it is funny how the people who had the reviews all made reviews on the same day.... They do not seem to be members of BBB, TASC, or USOBA.  Just my thoughts. How long have they been around to be a reputable company in a volitile market.  Just so you know speaking from experience B of A is one of the better institutions to deal with.  Just make sure you use a company that doesnt take upfront fees. If they set up a trust account. That should be where your money goes. Regardless if they have a money back guarantee. If you drop out and they collected their fees then they dont refund you.  Do your homework there are good companies that dont take fees upfront.

I am not sure who USOBA is but I have a friend who works for a settlement company and he told me that TASC is owned and governed by debt settlement companies.  He might be wrong I don't know?  But if that is true, that in itself kind of scares me.  That would mean that debt settlement companies in TASC are getting a stamp of approval from debt settlement companies.  To me and I am not into conspiracy theory but that to me seems strange?

take reviews to be 50/50 w/ ALL companies.  even "success stories" from people.  if a company is new and you find successful reviews, it's typically because they had money in their accounts to settle everything in a month.  i asked RAM about that, seems they've had several clients who have had money coming into their program to settle.

I agree with Niles. Check out your debt settlement companies first. Another good one is National Debt Resolution.

National Debt Resolution is a good company as well run by good people.   Call all 4 companies or if you feel you can settle the debts yourself, give it a whirl.   It's definately not for the faint-hearted but it can be done.
